Lung cancer is one of the common cancers physicians see. In spite of all the education about the dangers of tabacco abuse, the rate of smokers has fallen very little. In fact, smoking among our youth is growing. In fact, even after a patient quits smoking they are at a significantly greater risk of developing lung, oral, or throat cancer for the rest of their lives.

The main problem with lung cancer is the fact that once it is diagnosed there is very little that our aggresive treatments are able to do to fight this cancer. This is in part due to the fact that physicians are only able to diagnose these cancers at their very last stages and most of the time they have already spread.
